ServSafe is offering free training videos that address COVID-19 precautions for restaurants and food service operations. The videos are available in English and Spanish. Note this website is only in English.

Food handlers must have a California Food Handler Card. New hires will have 30 days following the date of hire to acquire a food handler card.ServSafe Food Handler California Online Course and Assessment is a comprehensive solution that delivers consistent food safety training to employees. This ensures the same food safety principles are delivered each and every time.Sections can be completed in approximately 10 minutes.

The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association (MRLA) is honored to be a partner program of the Michigan Golf Course Association and provide the gold standard ServSafe training line to its members. The ServSafe family of products are designed to protect the hospitality industry, by keeping our consumers and employees safe. Some of the ServSafe products can be completed online, others require an in-person examination and the MRLA offers classes all over the state including Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Livonia, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, and Warren. As a member of the MGCA you will receive discounted pricing on all the ServSafe offerings.


ServSafe is considered the industry leader. Over 500 colleges and universities teach ServSafe to food service professionals across the country. this course is part of the National Restaurant Association Management Certification Program. Over 1 million managers and employees have been certified through ServSafe.


Serv Safe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. The program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute and the Conference for Food Protection.


People who are serving and/or handling food and/or beverages outside of their home to people who are not their family or friends should take the ServSafe Food Handler course. Additionally, as of July 1, 2022, IC 16-42-5.3 requires that all home-based vendors obtain a food handler certificate from a certificate issuer that is accredited by ANSI. ServSafe Food Handler training fulfills this requirement.


Purdue University Office of Student Activities and Organizations (SAO) requires that when organizations plan to have self-prepared food served at an event, a ServSafe food handler be on site for food preparation and distribution.
